If I could change one thing in the world it would be to be rich and
order everyone around. I would get everything for free. It would be fun and it
would be exciting to be rich and have diamonds rubies, sapphires, emeralds and

My favourite thing about the holidays was…….
My favourite thing about the holidays was my little brother’s birthday party.
I liked the birthday party because it was so much fun!
I also liked the party because I got to choose the music for the party!
I also wrote and said a speech for my little brother. I even said the speech out loud to everyone at the party.
My little brother, Ayush, has turned one year old!
By Diya
My favourite thing about the holidays was when Suriya came to my house. We first played Super Mario Galaxy. Secondly we played on the computer. Then we had lunch and finally we went outside and played. Then Suriya’s mum came to pick him up.
The next day on Sunday it was my birthday I turned nine and my present was a micro charger I did a lot of work during the holidays.
By Kory
My favourite thing about the holidays was when I went Queensland and Melbourne. In Queensland I went to Wet and Wild and I did NOT go on all the rides.
I also went to SEA WORLD and I went on a rollercoaster called Jet Rescue. It goes very fast, and I saw Sponge Bob. In Melbourne I went in this ice land. Everything but the floor was made out of ice.

I would make this world a better place by not polluting, saving energy and not using too much diesel or fuel.
Inventors could invent cars that don’t use diesel or fuel and on every house roof there could be solar panels.
And give more to charity.
By Kory
I would make this world a better place by making every house have solar panels.
Animals can’t be hunted without my permission. I would make sure we have more animal shelters.
Everyone would be rich and the houses would be luxurious and only $5.00.
Taps would be sensored so water won’t be wasted.

"The Howling Wind. "Diya's entry into the writing competition. Read this please.
It was a cold winter’s night. The mighty gale was howling as if it was a wolf. The trees were swaying and the leaves were rustling. As I lay tight in my bed, covering my blanket over my head, I heard waves violently crashing against the rocks.
By the time I fell asleep I had ghastly nightmares about waves as big as Jupiter!
The next morning was peaceful ....until it was 06:00am.
“It was good while it lasted.” I thought to myself with a sigh. The calm, restful waves remained no longer. The waves were gigantic and were like those in my nightmares.
The following day, the weather forecast stated that it would be sunny and would be a lovely day for a boat ride so my parents declared “We will go on a boat ride.”
However when we were out at sea the waves were exactly the same as the previous two days! Luckily we were drifting towards the coastline of Sydney. A man came and helped us reach back to safety. While he dashed to the boat like lightning an enormous, gigantic wave engulfed him!
When he reached us, he was soaking wet. “I hope you’re alright. I work at the lighthouse and saw you!” the man remarked.
Thankfully we reached home safely, but we never saw that man again.

"The Storm" Josh's entry into the SMH writing competition. Please read and leave a comment.
It was Friday night and the weather outside was terrible. It was raining so hard we could hardly hear ourselves think. My family had just sat down to dinner when there was a loud bash at the front door. We all looked at each other thinking who could that be on such an awful night. My Dad answered the door and there stood a man in an SES uniform soaking wet. He told us we had to leave and go to the shelter as the storm was too bad and they didn’t know if it would get worse. My Dad said that he would send his family to the shelter but if the man could wait a minute he would help get others to safety.
Dad grabbed his rain jacket, a rope and a torch while the rest of us grabbed pillows and blankets to keep us warm during the night. My Mum drove us to the shelter. The drive was awful, rain was bucketing down, lightening was flashing everywhere and the wind was so strong it felt like the car was going to be blown away. I saw some lightening strike a tree and it fell on my neighbour’s car.
Dad and Rod, the SES officer found out their next job was to make sure no one was still at the beach. While walking along the beach front a huge wave crashed against the beach wall. They were caught. The wave crashed down onto Dad, soaking him. It pushed him over. Luckily, Dad was OK. When he looked up he couldn’t see Rod anywhere. All Dad could hear was someone screaming for help. It was coming from the water. Dad grabbed his torch and shone it in the water. It was so dark and rainy he couldn’t see a thing, but he continued to hear the screaming.
Luckily Dad didn’t give up searching. He finally found Rod in the water. The waves were so big and strong Rod was struggling to swim back to shore. Dad threw his rope out to Rod, he missed it. Dad tried again. This time Rod grabbed it. Carefully Dad pulled him back to shore as quick as a flash. Rod was OK. He just had some scrapes and bruises on his legs.
Later that night Dad came to the shelter to wait out the storm. When he told us his story, I exclaimed “You’re a hero, Dad! You saved someone’s life.”
The next morning the storm had disappeared. On the drive home the destruction was everywhere. We were all shocked but I at least my family was safe.

Please read Diya's narrative about two animals.
Mr Eagle and Miss Tiger
While Mr Eagle was flying to his office he saw Miss Tiger walking so he decided to fly down and greet her. “Hello Miss Tiger. Would you like to join me and my friends for flying lessons?” asked Mr Eagle deviously. “I’d love to!” Miss Tiger gasped happily.
Mr Eagle knew that tigers couldn’t fly but Mr Eagle felt like playing a trick on someone so that is why Mr Eagle asked Miss Tiger for flying lessons.
All the eagles took off on the top of a cliff. While Mr Eagle was busy putting wings and feathers on Miss Tiger, she saw all the eagles and baby eagles flying. Miss Tiger took off from the top of the cliff but.... she fell straight to the ground like a heavy rock in water! Mr Eagle and his friends were laughing at Miss Tiger.
The next day, Miss Tiger invited Mr Eagle for a swim in her swimming pool. Miss Tiger knew that eagles couldn’t swim but she wanted to get back at Mr Eagle.
Mr Eagle dived into the swimming pool but... Mr Eagle started sinking. No matter how hard he flapped his wings he was sinking. Miss Tiger helped him out of the pool.
As Mr Eagle was flying home, he mumbled to himself. “When you play a mean trick on someone they might play it back on you”. “That will teach him!” Miss Tiger thought to herself happily.

A narrative by Kory
The Missing Olympic Games Ticket
One month ago I was watching TV when suddenly the person on TV announced that I had won an Olympic ticket.
I had to enter all my details before five days so I did and I got the Olympic ticket. I jumped with joy and ran to my family. While I was running a huge wind blew the Olympic ticket somewhere.
I was so sad that I almost gave up.
I told to myself, Don’t give up Kory.’’
I was looking for the Olympic ticket for one hour but it was no use so I gave up. My family and I would not be able to go to the Olympics.
The next day, dad was cleaning the garden when he found the ticket buried in some sand, so he gave the ticket to me.
Thankfully we went to the Olympics and my favourite athlete won.

The Missing Olympic Ticket
Last week all of the town was gathered in the Town Hall. We were all anxious to know who were the ten winners who had won a ticket to the London Olympics.
The first winner was Tarlin, the second winner was Brian.
After eight more I realized all the winners were my friends.
The ticket was sparkling gold and the letters were printed in silver.
That evening as we ran home dad read the ticket aloud. It said: “You must take your family. Airfare will be included.” Then he gave it back to me.
As I raced to the car the ticket was blown out of my hands with a strong wind. I was devastated. Sadly I entered the car and we drove home.
When we arrived I was so contented the ticket was stuck on the swing set. “YIPIIIII!” I bellowed at the top of my lungs.
I was so pleased that the ticket was back in my hands.
A great narrative. Please read.

The Missing Olympic Games Ticket
“That completion looks interesting, I might sign up to win the golden Olympic ticket for my family and myself” I stated to my family.
The following day I went to where the competition was being held. It was a raffle.
“The winner is … Cj!” announced the man who pulled out the raffle ticket I was so happy I went crazy.
All of a sudden a Labrador named Lana came bounding out of nowhere and stole my ticket!
“My ticket, I lost my ticket!” I moaned. The Olympic Games are tomorrow!
“Where is that pesky dog?” I wailed.” I’ve looked everywhere.”
Meanwhile the dog was hiding from me. I saw the dog it was running to the other side of town.
It was coming back! She had two tickets with her.
“I’ll give the second ticket to my friend.” I thought.
I was so happy to have my ticket back.
